Using Cheats - puNES

This is a guide for adding cheats from the NES Hacker Wiki into the puNES emulator.

Unfortunately, puNES does not have a simple way to add cheats into it. It is recommended you follow the instructions in the Cheat Archive guide to import all cheats at once.

If you still want to add cheats into puNES, you can do so by clicking the Cheats item in the Settings menu. Then, select Cheats List Mode in the drop down at the top of the dialog, and click New at the lower right of the dialog.

If the address of the cheat is between 0000-07FF, you can add it by entering in the Description, Address, Value, and Compare. However, if the address of the cheat is 8000-FFFF, you must first convert the cheat into a Game Genie or Pro Action Rocky cheat code and enter it that way. Unfortunately, puNES does not do this automatically. There are programs online you can download which will perform such a conversion for you.
